I don't own an XBox360. As such, I haven't played Geometry Wars on Live Arcade. That's not to say I haven't heard of the game, as it would be hard to have not heard the vast praise the game has received. So, when I found out it'd be coming to the Wii with added features (specifically multiplayer), I can safely say I was incredibly excited. Unfortunately, I found that the game does not live up to the hype if you don't own a Classic Controller.
You see, the controllers are absolutely horrible with the Wii remote and nunchuck setup. Moving the ship around with the nunchuck is perfectly fine, but having to point at the screen to aim your fire is absolutely unacceptable. The game borders on uplayable with the remote and nunchuk. I was perfectly fine avoiding purchasing a Classic Controller as I do own 4 Game Cube controllers and figure those should handle anything a Classic Controller would. Sadly, Geometry Wars: Galaxies only supports Wii peripherals, so I've been left out in the cold. This means I'll either have to break down and pick up a Classic Controller or trade in my game for a loss. Since I can definitely see the potential fun to be had, I'll likely just pick up a controller, but I'm probably not going to be grabbing a 2nd, as it's really not worth spending a total $40 more for just one game (which would bring the total cost of the game to $80).
If you don't own or plan on owning a classic controller (preferrably two), I'd strongly suggest you avoid Geometry Wars: Galaxies and spend your hard earned money elsewhere.
