Mario & Sonic Olympic Events Revealed

Sega releases the list of events to be featured in their upcoming Olympics game.

Eurogamer has put up a list of events Sega has included in the upcoming Mario & Sonic at the Olympics Wii title.

  • Fencing - Individual epée
  • Archery
  • Shooting - Skeet
  • Gymnastics - Trampoline
  • Gymnastics - Vault
  • Field - High Jump
  • Field - Pole Vault
  • Field - Long Jump
  • Field - Triple Jump
  • Field - Javelin Throw
  • Field - Hammer Throw
  • Rowing - Single Sculls
  • Table Tennis - Singles
  • Aquatics - 100m Freestyle
  • Aquatics - 4x100m Freestyle
  • Track - 110m and 400m Hurdles
  • Track - 4x100m Relay
  • Track -100m and 400m

The above list is a bit disappointing for me.  It would seem that most of the games are quite shallow and will merely be a matter of waggling the controllers as fast as you can.  The only games that seems like they may have at least a some depth are fencing, shooting, and table tennis - and two of those have already been attempted in the Wii Play game (and attempted quite poorly).

I know it's asking for too much to get a more meaty olympic sport thrown in there like soccer, basketball, water polo, or wrestling, but seeing the list of events they have decided to include definitely leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Comments

I've always hated crossover titles. The bum game "event" list here doesn't help the situation for me the slightest. Unless you're a freak-fan for both franchises, in my opinion, I wouldn't even look at this title to rent.
